Sandra Sherlock Books

Welcome to my page dedicated to Eddie, my service dog. I received Eddie in 2006, and he was my constant companion for ten years until he passed from cancer in 2016.

I have Multiple Sclerosis, which has stolen my sense of balance, and weakened the muscles in my legs. Eddie’s most important job was to walk with me and keep me in a straight line. It’s amazing how tiring walking can be when you zig-zag!

On this page, not only can you buy my book, but you can also access videos of Eddie, and pictures that didn’t make it into the book.

Wolves

Wolves is the first chapter in the book. It’s where our story starts.

Eddie loved to sing, and all it took to get him singing was the sound of other dogs or animals vocalizing in some way. This worked best with TV and videos. When I was teaching in my music classes, kids would ask daily if we could make Eddie sing. All it took was for me to play a video on my phone of him singing, and he’d start right up, much to the delight of the students!

I’ll help you, Mama!

Unpacking groceries was not an essential part of the help that I needed from Eddie. I was perfectly capable of unpacking them and putting them away. He got so much joy out of taking the items out of the bags and parading them around the house, I just had to let him. He had to make sure everybody got to see his prize before bringing it back to me.

I think my dog’s broken!

Listen to the end to hear Eddie and Mickey’s duet!

Here Mama.

I thought you might need this.

Every now and then, Eddie would bring me a random thing. It could have been a sock, or a roll of toilet paper, maybe a bottle of wine, or even a 15 pound bag of cat litter. True to his retriever heritage, he had a very soft mouth, and never crushed what he was carrying. He really didn’t want to give up the roll of toilet paper though!
